PARLIAMENT HOUSE STOKES WHARF WW11 TUNNELLS

We left the van and visited Parliament House. They had a tour on at 10.30am. It was a very interesting introduction to Parliament in Northern Territory. Lots of photos of Parliamentarians through the previous years and the stories regarding them. Then a look at the rooms where Parliament meets. Also a look outside at the water feature that over looks Darwin Harbour. This building was constructed on the ground where the Post Office used to be. This Post Office was bombed on the 19Th February 1942 by the Japanese. 10 people lost their lives in this blast. 267 overall, lost their lives in this disastrous bombing of Darwin.
We then went to Stokes Wharf for Barramundi and Chips. Had a look around the Wharf area. Very nice place to visit. On the way home we stopped at the World War 11 Bunkers under Government House. Interesting, but not really World War 11 as they never were used. Went for a swim and had toast for tea.
