BANKA BANKA

We got up and walked over to Devils Marbles. The Marbles are either "Cheese' Or Cottage Loafs" determined by their shape. Cheese are long, with rounded corners where as Cottage Loafs are high with rounded corners. Some of the granite is broken in half. This is caused by water seeping into the granite and eroding softer rock so it eventually breaks away. We went back to van and had breakfast and headed of towards Banka Banka Station. The park here has no water or power, but does have pit toilets. It is a great place to stop for a night.
We arrived at Banka Banka Station around 3.00pm. Really great camp. Nice toilets and showers. Artesian bores so that you can wash your car and caravan, fill water tank and they have sprinklers going all day. They had a slide show at night showing the workings of the stations. There ar three. Banka Banka, Helen Springs and Bullinga. They are owned by a pastoral company now, but originally by a company owned by Sid Kidman. They have a total of 11,000sq kilometres of land over these 3 stations. They also own stations in Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia. They export their live cattle to Indonesia as their is no Abbattoirs in Northern Territory. They have exported 17 trucks containing 3,500 cattle overseas in one yeaar. They employ Jillaroos and Jackaroos, Cooks, Gardeners, Truck Drivers, Grader Drivers, Mechanics, and Managers. This is the largest privately owned pastoral landholder in Australia. Helen Springs has private accomodation and en-suite and a swimming pool. Bullinga doesn't have a swimming pool but does have accomodation.
GUESS WHERE I'D LIKE TO WORK ???????????????????????? Maintaining the swimming pool.
