LAKE ALBERT

Left Mt Gambier and drove through massive pine forests. Miles and miles of them, and also saw the Kimberley Clark Woodchip Mill. I thought they made toilet paper. Maybe from the woodchip???????. Apparently we produce 120,00 tonnes of woodchip each year, 100,00 goes overseas to Japan as woodchip to make paper and cardboard etc.
On the horizon we could see 100's of wood turbine at Millicent. Even did a tour, to show you how they worked to produce electricity. We didn't do the tour but on the info we read they must have provided power to a lot of homes and businesses.
We arrived at Beachport and had morning tea and a look along the shoreline. The pub had the most georgous hand painted tables in the restaurant. Apparently done by a local woman who also sells to the public.
The jetty was not open to the public as they are renewing all the metal pylon and replacing the timber deck. It is 778 metres long and was originally about twice this length. What a job they have to complete. Had morning tea here.
Called into a quilt shop called the "Secret Garden" guess what I brought a jelly roll. Couldn't help myself.
We went on to Kingston and brought fish and chips for lunch and had them on the foreshore. They had a wharf very similar to Beach Port that was open to the public so we went for a walk. Beautiful foreshore.
We arrived at Meningie and stayed overnight at Lake Albert Caravan Park. Raining and cold.
