Ormiston Gorge showcases the spectacular geology and landforms of the MacDonnell Ranges. The Gorge has a near permanent waterhole, estimated to be 14 metres deep at the southern end. The area contains an interesting variety of native fauna and flora including a number of relict palm species remaining from a tropical past. The rediscovery of the Long-tailed Dunnart and the Central Rock Rat highlights the park as an important fauna refuge. The waterhole is great for swimming in the warmer months. We did the Waterhole Walk which was over lots of rocks in the river bed. Finally arriving at the waterhole. We then did the lookout walk. This was beautiful as we climbed up and over the cliff to the lookout and then down the other side. Les was going to do the 3-4 hour pound walk, but didn't end up with enough time left.
We returned to van and Les went to book Helicopter flight, while I washed dishes. I apparently turned the tap on and went outside to get stuff from fridge. When I returned to see the floor, the cupboards, the stove top was covered in water. Thank goodness some of the Tupperware contained the water, instead of the floor.
WHAT A MESS.!!!!!!!!!!!
Les arrived to see my disaster and in his calm voice said "SHUT THE DOOR WE ARE GOING FOR A FLIGHT" It was great, the flight, not the flood. We flew over Ormiston Gorge and Glen Helen Gorge. Saw the Organ Pipes, Gosse Bluff and surrounding countryside. Really Good!!!!!!! We then returned to clean up the water in the van.
I then went to the car and shut my hand in the door. OUCH!!!!!!!! THEN I CRIED......
DONT WANT ANOTHER DAY LIKE THAT...........
We looked at the 1200 photos we have taken and then went to bed.
